Information and Entertainment Sources I Pay For
These are all of the news, video, and music services I subscribe to either monthly or annually. Much of this is about my avoiding advertising as much as I can. I believe it’s important to pay for news, especially in the wake of the sickening event of November 2016. The annual total for all of these is $1010; that works out to $84.16/month, below what many people pay for cable TV. In addition to these monthly and yearly payments, I occasionally purchase or rent movies and TV shows through iTunes, and when any worth-watching series comes on Hulu or Netflix, I sign up long enough to watch them and then unsubscribe. Netflix is mostly junk.
I don't love it. I keep it around because of a library that I've curated through iTunes over the years. My hope is that the coming Pandora Premium service will, on first launch, offer to scan my Apple Music library and match most or all of those songs. I'm very disappointed with how complicated Apple has made the service.
